Woman dies in bike fall near Chengalpet

A 40-year-old woman died after suffering severe head injuries when the motorcycle on which she was traveling as a pillion skidded and fell near Chengalpet on Sunday. The victim, identified as Shakila, wife of Sampath, was a resident of Sappudiyamman Koil Street in Anjoor village near Chengalpet.

Details of the Incident

According to police, Shakila was walking to the Thiruvidanthai bus stop to travel to Tiruporur when an unidentified man on a two-wheeler passed by. She sought a lift, and the man allowed her to ride pillion. As they passed through Puthiya Gramam in Anjoor, the motorcycle lost balance and skidded on the road, causing Shakila to sustain grievous injuries to the back of her head.

Rescue and Aftermath

Nearby residents immediately arranged for an ambulance, which rushed her to Chengalpattu Government Hospital. However, she succumbed to her injuries during treatment. The Chengalpet Taluk police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. The identity of the motorcycle rider remains unknown, and authorities are working to trace him.
