A 21-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by a man who had reportedly been harassing her after she rejected his love proposal in Jadcherla town of Mahabubnagar on Saturday.
According to police and preliminary reports, the victim was identified as Y Vaishnavi, a receptionist at a private school in Jadcherla. Police said the accused had allegedly been following and harassing her for some time in the name of love. On Saturday, Vaishnavi reportedly got down from a bus and was walking when the accused attacked her with a knife in full public view.
The attacker allegedly slit her throat, leaving her critically injured. Locals immediately rushed to the spot and shifted her to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.
The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with locals demanding strict action against the accused. Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. The accused is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to apprehend him.
This tragic event highlights the persistent issue of harassment and violence against women who reject unwanted advances. Authorities urge women to report any form of stalking or harassment immediately to prevent such incidents.
