A tragic incident unfolded in Korai village under Garhpura police station area of Begusarai district on Thursday, where a 35-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband. The victim, Gayatri Devi, succumbed to a fatal throat slit inflicted with a sharp knife. She is survived by five children.

Bakhri SDPO Kundan Kumar confirmed that the body has been sent for postmortem examination. The knife used in the crime has been seized by authorities. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident to ascertain the circumstances leading to the murder.
Sequence of Events
According to local sources, the accused, identified as Amit Pandit, returned home in an intoxicated state and engaged in a heated argument with his wife. The altercation quickly escalated, and in a fit of rage, he allegedly attacked her with a knife that was kept in the house. The attack proved fatal, and Gayatri Devi died on the spot.
Following the crime, Amit Pandit attempted to evade arrest by fleeing and hiding in a nearby sugarcane field. However, vigilant villagers chased him down and overpowered him. They subsequently handed him over to the police. Further investigation is underway to gather more evidence and witness statements.
