WR intensifies security after Garib Nagar demolition

Mumbai: In the aftermath of the demolition drive at Garib Nagar near Bandra East station, Western Railway (WR) officials confirmed that follow-up operations commenced immediately. On Monday, teams were actively engaged in concretising the cleared area and installing fencing to secure the stretch and prevent re-encroachment.

Rehabilitation and Court Directives

Sources indicated that WR is likely to approach the state government regarding rehabilitation, particularly for residents whose hutments were not demolished as per court directives. Officials stated that further steps would be guided by the court’s instructions and coordination with the state administration.

Security Measures Intensified

The railway authorities have stepped up security at the location to deter people from returning to the cleared land. Additional personnel have been deployed, and access points are being monitored as rubble removal and levelling work progress.
