CM Yogi Adityanath Orders Strict Action Against Illegal Conversions in Balrampur

In a significant move to uphold law and order, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a stern directive to the Balrampur district administration and police. During a review meeting on Wednesday, the CM called for a rigorous crackdown on illegal conversions, specifically referencing the case of Chhangur Baba, who is accused of orchestrating large-scale illegal conversions in the district.

"No person like Chhangur Baba should emerge again," Adityanath emphasized, underscoring the need for vigilance. He instructed village watchmen to closely monitor any such illicit activities and ensure regular meetings of the district monitoring committee to maintain oversight.

Focus on Law and Order and Criminal Justice

Adityanath stressed that all criminals must face punishment to instill a "sense of fear of law" among offenders. As part of this effort, he mandated the deployment of anti-Romeo squads in every police station area to tackle crimes such as chain snatching and other offenses. Photographs of criminals should be displayed at public places and on social media to deter illegal activities, he added.

Furthermore, the CM highlighted the importance of joint monitoring in border areas, involving coordination between the police and the Border Security Force to enhance security measures.

Navratri Preparations and Public Safety

With the Navratri Mela set to commence on March 19, Adityanath focused on ensuring a safe and clean environment for devotees. He directed officials to conduct special cleanliness drives around temples and religious sites, deploy additional sanitation workers, and make proper arrangements for the expected influx of visitors to the Devipatan Shaktipeeth.

Key facilities to be prioritized include:

  • Drinking water availability
  • Cleanliness and hygiene
  • Uninterrupted power supply
  • Effective crowd management

Welfare Schemes and Development Projects

Adityanath also reviewed the implementation of various welfare schemes, emphasizing that every member of the Tharu tribe and residents of border areas should be included in government initiatives. He called for better coordination between the administration, public representatives, citizens, and organizations, with daily public hearings to address grievances promptly.

Development projects under scrutiny included:

  1. Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan
  2. CM Yuva Swarozgar Yojana
  3. New industrial area development
  4. Jal Jeevan Mission
  5. Ongoing construction projects, such as ring road construction
  6. A 100-bed critical care unit
  7. Construction of an STP in the municipality
  8. Drinking water reorganization schemes in municipal bodies

Inspection of Educational and Medical Institutions

During his visit, Adityanath conducted an on-site inspection of the under-construction Maa Pateshwari University in Balrampur, directing that work be completed by May. He also inspected the Government Medical College Balrampur, issuing necessary instructions for timely completion.

The CM planted a Maulshree sapling on the university campus and attended a detailed presentation on its development model. He instructed Vice-Chancellor Prof Ravishankar Singh to ensure regular monitoring to meet deadlines. Inspections covered academic buildings, theatre classrooms, laboratories, and other campus facilities, highlighting the government's commitment to educational infrastructure.
