CM Yogi Adityanath Honors Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna on Death Anniversary

In a solemn ceremony on Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid heartfelt tributes to former state chief minister Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna on his death anniversary. The Chief Minister described Bahuguna as a popular leader and an efficient administrator who left an indelible mark on the state's progress.

Floral Tributes and Recognition of Contributions

Paying floral tributes at Bahuguna's statue, CM Yogi Adityanath credited the late leader for focusing on Uttar Pradesh's development and for consistently working to strengthen social awareness and national consciousness. "Bahuguna was born in a small village in Pauri district of undivided Uttar Pradesh, now in Uttarakhand," the CM recounted, highlighting his humble beginnings.

He received his early education in his village and later moved to Prayagraj for higher studies. During his student years, he emerged as a student leader and actively joined India's freedom movement. "Along with contributing to the country's independence, he continuously worked to strengthen social awareness and national consciousness," Yogi Adityanath emphasized.

Political Journey and Legacy

Describing Bahuguna's political development, the Chief Minister noted that when Bahuguna was a student leader in Prayagraj in 1942, he was arrested for his involvement in the freedom struggle. In independent India, he made notable contributions across various roles:

  • As a public representative
  • As a state minister
  • As Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh
  • As a union minister

"He gave a new identity to Prayagraj and played a significant role in taking UP's development to greater heights," Yogi added. "All the work he carried out as a public representative was dedicated to every section of society, national prosperity, and public welfare."

The tribute ceremony underscored Bahuguna's enduring legacy in Uttar Pradesh's political and developmental landscape, with the current administration acknowledging his foundational work in shaping the state's growth trajectory.
