CM Yogi Adityanath Reviews Gorakhpur Projects, Urges Pre-Monsoon Completion
In a late-evening meeting held at the historic Gorakhnath temple in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a comprehensive review of ongoing development projects in Gorakhpur on Wednesday. The session, attended by senior officials, focused on accelerating construction activities while maintaining stringent quality standards.
Expediting Construction Before Monsoon
"Construction must be expedited while maintaining the highest quality standards," emphasized CM Yogi Adityanath. He issued clear directives to all departments to fast-track projects that have already achieved over two-thirds physical progress, ensuring their completion before the onset of the monsoon season.
The Chief Minister stressed that every project must adhere strictly to its predetermined timeline, issuing a stern warning against any negligence or delays at any administrative level. "It must be understood that open construction slows down during rains, so projects should be pushed to completion well in time," he noted, highlighting the significant impact of monsoon rains on construction activity.
Yogi Adityanath elaborated that maximum work should be completed during the pre-monsoon period to avoid costly disruptions and ensure timely delivery of public infrastructure.
Tackling Waterlogging and Drainage Issues
A critical component of the review involved measures to prevent waterlogging in Gorakhpur. The CM instructed officials to ensure that no part of the city faces flooding during the upcoming rainy season. He called for the timely and thorough cleaning of all drainage systems.
Particular attention was given to the Goddhoiya nala project, which is deemed crucial for improving the city's overall drainage capacity and preventing water accumulation. Authorities were directed to expedite this specific initiative to enhance urban resilience against monsoon-related challenges.
"While significant progress has been made in recent years, efforts must continue to achieve better outcomes," the Chief Minister added, acknowledging past improvements while urging sustained action.
Assessment of Key Urban Development Projects
During the extensive meeting, CM Yogi Adityanath assessed the current status of several key urban projects in Gorakhpur. These included:
- The heritage corridor development project.
- The multi-level parking-cum-commercial complex at Bandhu Singh Park near Ghantaghar.
The review aimed to identify bottlenecks and streamline processes for these significant infrastructural undertakings.
Organized Rehabilitation for Street Vendors
Beyond infrastructure, the Chief Minister also emphasized the need for the organized rehabilitation of street vendors. He instructed officials to develop and provide designated vending zones equipped with proper facilities.
This initiative is designed to ensure both convenience for the public and dignity for the vendors, integrating informal commerce into the city's formal urban planning framework. The directive underscores a holistic approach to urban development that balances large-scale projects with community welfare.
The meeting concluded with a reinforced commitment from all departments to prioritize timely execution, quality assurance, and comprehensive monsoon preparedness for Gorakhpur's ongoing transformation.
