Yogi Reviews Gorakhpur's Khichdi Mela & Mahotsav Plans

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a comprehensive review of major upcoming events and ongoing infrastructure work in Gorakhpur on Friday. The high-level meeting, held at the Gorakhnath Temple complex, focused on ensuring flawless execution of the historic Khichdi Mela, the Gorakhpur Mahotsav, and key development initiatives in the district.

Security and Crowd Management Top Priority for Khichdi Mela

Chairing the meeting, CM Yogi expressed satisfaction that preparations for the Khichdi Mela are nearly complete well before the December 20 deadline. He emphasized that the safety and comfort of the lakhs of devotees expected to offer khichdi at the Gorakhnath Temple must be the top priority. The Chief Minister presented a unique strategy, stating that the heavy footfall anticipated on New Year's Day, January 1, should be treated as a live rehearsal for the main event on Makar Sankranti.

He directed officials to use the New Year rush to physically test all arrangements, including security deployment, crowd regulation mechanisms, sanitation facilities, and public conveniences. This proactive approach aims to identify and rectify any potential issues before the actual fair.

Spotlight on Local Culture at Gorakhpur Mahotsav

Turning his attention to the Gorakhpur Mahotsav, scheduled from January 11 to 13, the Chief Minister issued specific instructions to promote local talent. He directed the administration to provide maximum opportunities to local artists and ensure the festival becomes a platform for traditional music, folk singing, and dance forms.

Furthermore, CM Yogi asked officials to organize sector-wise seminars during the Mahotsav to highlight the region's development works, government schemes, and achievements, thereby blending cultural celebration with public awareness.

Infrastructure and Winter Relief Directives

Anticipating large crowds at the Ramgarh Tal tourist zone on New Year's Day, the CM ordered additional parking arrangements, effective traffic management, and continuous CCTV surveillance to prevent untoward incidents. He explicitly instructed that no vehicles be allowed to park on roads and that parking plans be publicized widely in advance.

Reviewing development projects, Yogi Adityanath asked officials to expedite ongoing road works while strictly maintaining quality standards, reiterating that smooth traffic flow is an administrative priority. He also reviewed the progress of the Heritage Corridor project, directing authorities to ensure the proper rehabilitation of affected shopkeepers through coordinated efforts of the municipal corporation and the Gorakhpur Development Authority (GDA).

In view of the prevailing cold wave, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure bonfires are lit across the city to provide necessary relief to the people.
