Youth Congress Secretary Brutally Murdered in Dharwad Home Invasion
A shocking and brutal murder has rocked the city of Dharwad, where a young Congress party functionary was allegedly killed in a violent home invasion on Friday night. The victim, identified as 27-year-old Firoz Pathan, who served as a secretary for the Youth Congress, was attacked at his residence in the Hashmi Nagar area of Malapur.
Violent Attack Caught on CCTV
According to police reports, a gang consisting of three to four individuals forcibly entered Pathan's home between 9:30 PM and 10:00 PM. The assailants chased the young political worker and allegedly stabbed him multiple times with a knife, leaving him lying in a pool of blood. Disturbingly, family members who attempted to intervene during the attack were also assaulted before the perpetrators fled the scene.
The entire sequence of events leading to the murder has been captured on CCTV cameras, providing crucial evidence for investigators. Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar personally visited and inspected the crime scene, overseeing both suburban and city police units in their initial response.
Victim Was Preparing for Upcoming Wedding
Adding to the tragedy, Firoz Pathan had been actively preparing for his wedding, which was scheduled to take place on April 26. The promising young political worker's life was cut short just weeks before what should have been one of the happiest occasions of his life.
The exact motive behind this brutal murder remains unknown at this time, leaving investigators to explore all possible angles in what appears to be a targeted attack.
Police Response and Political Reactions
Following the murder, supporters of Pathan brought his body to protest in front of the suburban police station, demanding justice. Police authorities managed to stop the protesters at KC Park and persuaded them to take the body home for proper funeral arrangements.
Police Commissioner Shashikumar assured the public that a comprehensive investigation will be conducted in this case. "We have witnesses, and his family members have also seen the assailants," Shashikumar stated. "We have got a clue about them. We will soon arrest the culprits."
The murder has drawn political attention beyond local circles, with Union Minister Pralhad Joshi telling reporters that "law and order is a serious problem as it has collapsed in the state," highlighting concerns about security and governance in the region.
