In a spectacular display of collective yoga practice, over 6,000 individuals gathered in Hyderabad to perform Bhujangasana, also known as the Cobra Pose, and successfully entered the Asia Book of Records. The event took place at the Gachibowli Stadium, organized by the Art of Living Foundation in collaboration with the Telangana government.
Record-Breaking Event
The massive gathering saw participants from various age groups and backgrounds come together to hold the pose for a specified duration, meeting the criteria set by the Asia Book of Records. The previous record was held by a group in China, but Hyderabad's achievement has now surpassed it. Officials from the Asia Book of Records were present to verify and certify the attempt.
Significance of Bhujangasana
Bhujangasana is a fundamental yoga posture that strengthens the spine, opens the chest, and improves flexibility. It is often included in yoga routines for its numerous health benefits, including stress relief and improved digestion. The event aimed to promote yoga as a means of physical and mental well-being.
Participants expressed joy and pride in being part of the historic moment. Many had been practicing yoga for years, while others were beginners inspired by the mass participation.
Organizers' Perspective
Art of Living Foundation volunteers highlighted the importance of such events in spreading awareness about yoga. They noted that the record is not just a number but a testament to the growing interest in yoga across India. The Telangana government supported the event as part of its efforts to promote health and wellness among citizens.
The event concluded with a certificate ceremony, where participants received recognition for their contribution to the record. Organizers hope this achievement will encourage more people to adopt yoga in their daily lives.
