Faridabad might not be the first place that comes to mind when thinking of motorsport talent, but for young Arshi Gupta, location has never been a limiting factor. At just nine years old, she has carved her name into the annals of Indian motorsport by achieving a remarkable double feat.
A Historic Achievement in Karting
Arshi Gupta has become the youngest ever national karting champion in India after winning the prestigious 2025 Indian National Karting Championship in the micro max category, which is designed for drivers aged eight to eleven. Even more impressively, she has emerged as the only female karting champion across the entire Asian continent competing in a mixed-gender format.
Karting, by its very nature, makes no distinctions based on gender. Boys and girls line up together on the starting grid, helmets secured, engines roaring in anticipation. In this environment, pure talent determines the outcome, and Arshi's exceptional skill has spoken volumes through her performances.
The Discipline Behind the Success
While her rise might appear sudden to outsiders, behind the trophies and accolades lies a rigorous routine that would challenge even experienced athletes. "I wake up at 5 am, have breakfast, and I'm on the track from 8.30am to 4 pm," Arshi reveals about her daily schedule. These long hours represent not just occasional effort but a consistent way of life that she embraced even more intensely before departing for specialized training in the United Kingdom.
Her relatives note that "She kept doing it because she enjoyed it," highlighting the passion that fuels her dedication. Arshi began her karting journey at just seven years old, and within two short years, she found herself standing atop the national podium—a testament to her remarkable discipline, personal sacrifice, and relentless preparation.
Dominating the National Circuit
During the 2025 national racing season, Arshi delivered multiple impressive victories, including commanding wins in Chennai and Bengaluru. She particularly excelled on neutral tracks where all drivers receive equal practice time, eliminating any potential advantage from prior familiarity.
"Neutral tracks bring out pure skill," explains her father, Anchit Gupta. "That's where Arshi performed exceptionally well." Recognizing the limitations of India's relatively short racing calendar, the Gupta family looked internationally to further sharpen her competitive edge.
International Training and Success
Arshi underwent extensive training in the United Arab Emirates for five months, immersing herself completely in a high-intensity motorsport environment. This strategic move paid significant dividends when she secured a third-place finish at the prestigious IAME UAE Championship, becoming the youngest Indian ever to stand on an international karting podium.
She followed this achievement with a strong fourth-place finish at the Asia Pacific Motorsports Championship held in Sri Lanka, where she competed against older and more experienced drivers from across the region. Even in the United Kingdom, Arshi adapted swiftly to new racing conditions, steadily closing the performance gap with seasoned front-runners within just weeks of her arrival.
Inspiration and Mindset
Throughout her journey, Arshi has drawn inspiration from former Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen. "He trains very hard, and he is really professional in the way he prepares for races," she says about her favorite driver, reflecting the high standards she has established for her own development.
What stands out most remarkably is Arshi's extraordinary composure under pressure. "I don't get nervous. I just enjoy the sport and give my best," she states, displaying a mindset that is rare for her age and invaluable in a sport where outcomes are determined by fractions of a second.
Balancing Academics and Athletics
Despite her punishing training schedule and frequent international travel, academics remain firmly within her focus. "I study on flights after races or whenever I have time. My mom teaches me," Arshi explains. This impressive balancing act has already earned her a principal's gold medal at school for excellence in both academic and co-curricular achievements.

With her recent selection to the prestigious F1 Academy programme, which will support her development through 2026, the road ahead looks exceptionally promising for this young talent.
