Bihar Sports Minister Champions AI for Transforming Athletic Development
Patna: In a significant address at a national conference, Bihar's State Sports Minister Shreyashi Singh articulated a compelling vision for the future of sports governance, emphasizing the critical role of artificial intelligence (AI)-based technologies. Speaking on Saturday, she highlighted how AI can substantially enhance talent identification, performance tracking, and injury management systems within the sports sector.
National Conference on AI in Sports Science and Ethics
The minister inaugurated a three-day national conference titled "Artificial Intelligence in Sports Science, Healthcare and Ethics," organized by the Department of Physical Education at the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) in Gaya. During her inaugural speech, she underscored that modern sports governance must seamlessly integrate scientific research, digital innovation, and ethical responsibility to cultivate athletes capable of achieving international excellence.
Shreyashi Singh encouraged young researchers and students to leverage AI as a powerful tool for nation-building and advancement in sports. She expressed appreciation for CUSB's initiative in hosting a conference on such a futuristic and impactful theme, noting that Bihar is actively promoting sports development and encouraging young sporting talent across the state.
Academic Leaders Echo the Call for Ethical AI Adoption
CUSB Vice-Chancellor Kameshwar Nath Singh reinforced the minister's message, stating that AI is no longer a futuristic concept but a present-day necessity. He explained that AI is fundamentally transforming sports performance analysis, athletes' health monitoring, and academic research methodologies. The vice-chancellor emphasized that universities must adopt emerging technologies responsibly and ethically, ensuring that innovation aligns with human values and national development goals.
Adding an interdisciplinary perspective, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Arts Faculty Dean Sushma Ghildiyal highlighted the broad relevance of AI across education, humanities, and sports sciences. She stressed the paramount importance of maintaining ethical awareness while integrating AI into research and pedagogical practices.
Keynote Address and Conference Proceedings
Pt RaviShankar Shukla University's Students' Welfare Dean Rajeev Choudhary delivered the keynote address, focusing on the theme "From Databases to Decisions: AI-Enabled Bibliometric and Meta-Analysis in Sports and Health Sciences." Other distinguished speakers who shared their insights included Nishant Singh, Abhimanyu Singh, and Sanjeev Mandar. Conference Director Ravi Kaant concluded the event by proposing a formal vote of thanks, marking the successful commencement of the three-day deliberations.
