The prestigious 69th All India Railway Golf Championship for the 2025-26 season has found its champion. The Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW), Varanasi, emerged victorious after a thrilling tournament that concluded on Thursday.
BLW Lifts the Trophy with Dominant Display
The championship finale was hosted at the scenic Golf Course of the Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala, Punjab. The BLW team put on a remarkably consistent and dominant performance throughout the event to secure the championship trophy. Their triumph was built on a solid team effort, culminating in a winning aggregate score of 448.
The host team, RCF Kapurthala, put up a fierce fight and finished as the runners-up with a very close total score of 452. Securing the third position on the podium was the team from South Central Railway, Secunderabad, which posted a total score of 472.
Individual Brilliance Shines Through
While the team event celebrated collective excellence, individual players also grabbed the spotlight with their stellar skills. Yuvraj Singh from RCF Kapurthala had a standout tournament. He not only won the Longest Drive Competition but was also adjudged the Best Golfer of the championship. He achieved this honour by registering an excellent gross score of 141.
The champion BLW squad also showcased strong individual talent. Gulfam Hussain and Imamul Haq from BLW secured the first and second runners-up positions in the individual category, respectively. Interestingly, both golfers posted identical scores of 148.
Leadership Applauds the Champions
The outstanding achievement of the players was met with high praise from the leadership of the BLW Sports Association. The General Manager and patron, Somesh Kumar, along with the principal chief electrical engineer and president, Sushil Kumar Srivastava, and the chief mechanical engineer (Production & Marketing) and general secretary, Sunil Kumar, all commended the golfers for their dedication and superb performance. Their win brings great pride to the institution and highlights the thriving culture of sports within the Indian Railways.
