In a landmark development for sports recruitment in India's paramilitary forces, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Thursday commissioned its largest-ever single batch of sportsperson recruits. The force inducted a total of 324 athletes as head constables following the successful completion of a rigorous four-month training programme.
Historic Passing Out Parade in Bhilwara
The impressive passing out ceremony took place at the force's Regional Training Centre (RTC) located in Deoli, within Tonk district. The event marked a significant milestone in the CISF's efforts to integrate sporting talent into its ranks while supporting India's broader athletic ambitions.
Minister's Inspiring Address
Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya graced the occasion as the chief guest, taking the salute during the ceremonial parade. In his address to the new recruits, Minister Mandaviya delivered an inspiring message, urging them to "keep playing" while serving the nation through their CISF duties.
The minister explicitly linked their sporting careers to India's ambitious goal of breaking into the Top-10 sporting nations by 2036. This vision aligns with India's ongoing bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games in Ahmedabad, which is also scheduled to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games.
Impressive Composition of the Batch
The 7th batch of head constables presents a remarkable composition that reflects both gender diversity and sporting excellence:
- 171 women athletes among the recruits
- 153 male athletes completing the batch
- 18 international-level gold medallists
- 56 national-level gold medallists
This brings the total number of gold medallists in the batch to an impressive 74 athletes, showcasing the high caliber of sporting talent being integrated into the force.
Unprecedented Recruitment Drive
CISF officers revealed that these recruits were selected through the force's most extensive sports quota recruitment drive since the CISF was established in 1969. The selection process was conducted during July-August 2025, representing a significant commitment to identifying and nurturing sporting talent within the paramilitary framework.
Future Expansion Plans
During the ceremony, CISF Director General Praveer Ranjan announced forward-looking plans for the force's sports infrastructure development. The CISF has advanced a proposal to establish its first specialised southern regional "Centre of Excellence" at the Recruits Training Centre in Thakkolam, Tamil Nadu.
Under this ambitious plan, the force will develop dedicated facilities for multiple sports disciplines, including:
- Badminton
- Fencing
- Cycling
- Tennis
Government Collaboration
The Union Home Ministry has entrusted the CISF with the responsibility of setting up such centres across the southern region. According to DG Ranjan, the force will coordinate closely with the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to ensure these facilities meet international standards and contribute effectively to India's sporting ecosystem.
This initiative represents a strategic partnership between security forces and sports development authorities, creating a unique model for nurturing athletic talent while maintaining national security preparedness.
