The Coimbatore City Corporation has achieved a significant milestone with the administrative approval granted for the construction of a state-of-the-art Paralympic sports complex. This ambitious project, estimated to cost Rs 9.90 crore, is poised to become a premier facility for para-athletes in the region.

Prime Location and Land Allocation

Approximately 1.10 acres of land has been identified in ward 33 at Jeeva Nagar, situated near Kavundampalayam within the city. This strategic location has been earmarked specifically for the development of the indoor stadium, ensuring accessibility and convenience for athletes and visitors alike.

In October 2025, the corporation submitted a detailed project report to the state government, initially seeking Rs 15 crore for the complex. However, the government has sanctioned Rs 9.90 crore for the initial phase. According to a senior corporation official, construction work is scheduled to commence in the upcoming weeks, marking a swift progression from approval to implementation.
