The world of motorsport has spoken, and Formula E talent is receiving its well-deserved recognition. Four stars from the all-electric racing championship have secured coveted spots on Autosport's prestigious Top 50 Drivers of 2025 list. This elite ranking, released after the conclusion of the Formula E and F1 seasons, highlights the growing prowess and competitive spirit within the electric racing series.
Formula E Champions Rank Among The World's Best
Leading the charge for the electric series is the newly crowned Formula E World Champion, Oliver Rowland. The British driver, who pilots for Nissan, has been impressively ranked ninth in the global list. This placement underscores his dominant performance throughout Formula E Season 11, where he clinched the world title.
He is joined by his protege, Taylor Barnard, who has been ranked 16th. Barnard, who was the youngest driver on the grid last season, completed his first full Formula E campaign with NEOM McLaren. For the upcoming season, he has moved to the DS Penske team following McLaren's exit from the sport.
Close behind Barnard is Nick Cassidy at 17th place. The Jaguar TCS Racing driver finished as the runner-up in the Season 11 championship battle, narrowly missing the title. Cassidy has also switched teams for the new season, now racing for the newly entered Citroen Racing outfit in Season 12.
Notable Inclusions and F1 Comparisons
Another significant inclusion from the Formula E grid is Cupra Kiro's Dan Ticktum, who finds himself at 37th place. Ticktum earned his spot after a breakthrough season where he celebrated his maiden Formula E victory.
In a striking testament to the quality in Formula E, all four ranked drivers have finished ahead of seven-time F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton, after a challenging debut year with Ferrari, is placed 47th on the list. Interestingly, Carlos Sainz, the Williams driver who vacated his Ferrari seat for Hamilton, is ranked 38th, just one place behind Ticktum.
Formula E Season 12 Is Already Underway
Following the thrilling finale of Season 11 in July, the Formula E championship has swiftly moved into its twelfth season. The new campaign kicked off this month with Round 1 in Sao Paulo, where Andretti's Jake Dennis took the chequered flag.
The series is currently on a short break for the Christmas and New Year holidays. Racing action will resume on January 10 with Round 2 in Mexico City. Fans have a lot to look forward to, as Season 12 is set to be the longest in Formula E history, featuring an expanded calendar of 17 races across some of the world's most iconic city circuits.
