The 7th edition of the All India Defence Accounts Chess Tournament culminated successfully in Chandigarh, crowning a new champion after three days of intense strategic battles. The event, which drew chess enthusiasts from various defence accounts departments across the nation, concluded on December 3, 2025.

Jammu Team Clinches the Championship Title

After a fiercely contested tournament, the team from the principal controller of defence accounts (NC), Jammu, was declared the overall champion. Their consistent and superior play across the tournament rounds secured them the top honour. The victory highlights the growing talent and competitive spirit within the defence accounts community in the Jammu region.

Mumbai and Guwahati Secure Podium Finishes

The runner-up position was secured by the determined team from PCDA (Navy), Mumbai, showcasing strong tactical prowess. Completing the top three was the contingent from the controller of defence accounts, Guwahati, which put up an impressive fight to finish third. The tournament, held from December 1 to 3, 2025, was organized under the aegis of the Defence Accounts Sports Control Board based in New Delhi.

A Celebration of Sportsmanship and Dedication

The closing ceremony was graced by Sanjay Kumar Singh, the principal controller of defence accounts (Western Command). He personally presented the trophies to the winning teams and commended all participants for their spirited performances and sportsmanship.

In his address, Singh lauded the officers and staff for their enthusiastic participation. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between professional responsibilities and sporting excellence, encouraging everyone to continue pursuing their passion for games like chess which sharpen the mind.
