In a stirring display of patriotism and physical endurance, a monumental National Cadet Corps (NCC) cycle expedition covering a staggering 1,680 kilometres was officially flagged off from Pune on Wednesday. The journey, which commenced from the historic Delhi gate of Shaniwarwada, is bound for the national capital, New Delhi.
Journey of Valour and Revolution
Themed 'Shaurya Ke Kadam, Kranti Ki Ore' (Steps of Valour, Towards Revolution), this ambitious expedition is far more than a physical challenge. Its core objectives are to foster physical stamina, mental toughness, and a powerful spirit of unity among the cadets. As they pedal across multiple states, they will act as ambassadors, spreading awareness about national pride and India's rich, diverse historical heritage.
Inspired by History, Led by Determination
This modern-day campaign draws direct inspiration from the legendary 1736 campaign of the great Maratha warrior, Peshwa Bajirao I, which significantly expanded Maratha influence northwards. Leading the present-day contingent is Brigadier Sachin Gawali, Group Commander of NCC Group Headquarters in Amravati.
The team is a blend of determination and inclusivity, featuring six girl cadets alongside other cadets and essential support staff. Each participant earned their place through a rigorous selection process and underwent an intensive three-month training schedule to prepare for the arduous journey ahead.
Route, Interactions, and Grand Finale
Over the course of approximately 21 days, the cyclists will not just be covering distance but also engaging deeply with the heart of India. Their schedule includes planned interactions with local communities, educational institutions, and armed forces veterans along the route.
The expedition is set to culminate in Delhi, where it forms a key part of the NCC activities during the Republic Day Camp. The grand finale aligns with the camp's conclusion on January 27, shortly after the iconic Republic Day parade and the Prime Minister's rally.
This initiative stands as a powerful testament to the NCC's commitment to building character, celebrating India's history, and preparing the youth for the challenges of tomorrow through discipline and shared purpose.
