The second edition of the KNS Queens Premier League (QPL) concluded in spectacular fashion in Bengaluru, with the Shimoga Queens emerging as champions after delivering an outstanding all-round performance that secured their position at the top of the leaderboard throughout the tournament.

Week-Long Multi-Sport Extravaganza

The week-long sporting spectacle took place across multiple venues including Koramangala Indoor Stadium, Base Camp at Bangalore University Campus, and E-Zone in Marathahalli. The event featured 10 celebrity-driven teams competing across 12 different sporting disciplines, making it what organizers described as the "most competitive season yet" for the women-centric sports league.

Under the leadership of captain Bhavana Rao and owned by RRG Groups' Suresh Gowda, the Shimoga Queens demonstrated remarkable consistency by scoring points in eight different games. Their winning combination of power, strategic planning, and team depth proved unbeatable as they maintained their lead from start to finish.

The championship-winning squad included talented athletes Dr. Akshata Kulkarni, Priyanka Kamath, Spoorthy Gowda, Shruthi Venkatesh, Geetha P, Surekha Kulkarni, Vindhya Rangaswamy, Raniya Shruthi, Manya Gowda, Manasa Guruswami, Gamana G Gowda, Ragashree B.G., Shruthi C, Vaishnavi B, and Rakshika Shetty. Their consistent performances in events like Tug of War, Badminton, Pickleball, and Lagori kept them ahead of the competition throughout the tournament.

The grand finale unfolded before a packed stadium, elevated by the presence of Sandalwood actress Ramya, who served as the official face of QPL Season 2. She joined former MLA Sowmya Reddy and Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy for the trophy presentation ceremony, receiving an enthusiastic welcome from the crowd.

Actress Ramya praised the participants for their determination and sportsmanship, expressing that she felt "deeply inspired" by the level of commitment displayed throughout the season. She also shared her excitement for the upcoming QPL Season 3.

The Hassan Queens secured the runner-up position after a closely contested campaign, falling just three points short of the championship title. Owned by Herbcience Director Roopa DN and captained by actor Shanvi Srivastava, the team excelled in events like Chess and Go-Karting, keeping the title race intense until the final day.

Bellary Queens, owned by Aravind Reddy and led by Dhanya Ramkumar, claimed third place with a steady and balanced performance across various league events.

Thrilling Final Day Contests

The concluding day of QPL Season 2 featured some of the most exciting matches of the tournament. The cricket final had spectators on the edge of their seats as the Mangaluru Queens narrowly defeated the Belagavi Queens in a tense finish, successfully defending four runs off the final ball.

The Tug of War final added another layer of excitement, with Shimoga overpowering their opponents in a decisive victory that highlighted their season-long dominance.

The six-day league saw actors, models, influencers, and other well-known personalities pushing their physical limits, with several players sustaining bruises and sore muscles – clear evidence of how seriously participants approached the competition. Founders Mahesh Kumar and Pramod Shetty applauded the competitive spirit displayed by all teams, noting that the intensity and professionalism from players "exceeded expectations and inspired everyone involved."

Honoring an Environmental Legend

Amid the high-energy competitions, the league paused to pay heartfelt tribute to Padma Shri awardee and environmental crusader Saalumarada Thimmakka, whose recent passing saddened people across Karnataka. In honor of the legendary 'Tree Mother,' QPL organizers presented saplings to the star captains – a symbolic gesture reflecting Thimmakka's lifelong dedication to environmental conservation.

This meaningful tribute added depth to the day's events, capturing the spirit of respect and responsibility that the league aims to promote beyond sports.

The commentary team comprising Sujay Shastri, Raghavendra Raj, and former India Team cricketer Vanitha VR kept the atmosphere lively with their energetic narration and humor, enhancing the spectator experience for each match.

The final scoreboard reflected the competitive nature of the league: Shivamogga Queens topped with 20 points, followed by Hassan Queens (17), Bellary Queens (14), Mangaluru Queens (12), Kolar Queens (11), Hubli Queens (11), Chitradurga Queens (8), Bengaluru Queens (6), Mysuru Queens (6), and Belagavi Queens (3).

Star captains including Asha Bhat, Shanvi Srivastava, Saptami Gowda, Dhanya, Ramkumar Radhika Narayan, Bhavana Rao, Neha Saxena, Rachana Inder, Nidhi Subbaiah, and Parvati Nair played active and dynamic roles throughout QPL, leading their teams with remarkable energy, discipline, and sporting spirit.
