In an exciting display of cricketing prowess, The Times of India (TOI) team advanced to the championship match of the SBI Cup Media Premier League (MPL) after defeating Electronic Media in the semi-final on Thursday. The match, held at Lucknow's Chowk stadium, saw TOI register its fourth straight victory in the tournament.
TOI Sets a Competitive Target
The foundation of TOI's win was laid by a powerful batting performance. Devesh Pandey played a match-defining innings, scoring a brilliant 86 runs off just 52 balls. His knock was decorated with eight boundaries and three sixes. He received solid support from Rishi Singh Sengar, who contributed 35 runs from 36 deliveries. Their partnership enabled TOI to post a challenging total of 150 runs in their allotted overs.
Electronic Media's Chase Falls Short
In response, the Electronic Media batting lineup struggled to build momentum against a disciplined TOI bowling attack. Rahul Bist put up a valiant fight, scoring 44 runs off 34 balls, but lacked consistent partners. The team was eventually bundled out for 128 runs in the 19th over, falling short by 22 runs. For TOI, the bowling heroes were Shalabh Saxena, who grabbed four crucial wickets, and Mohsin Usmani and Rajiv Srivastava, who took two wickets each.

With this win, TOI has earned the right to face DD-AIR in the final match, scheduled for Friday at the KD Babu Singh stadium. DD-AIR secured their place by defeating LSJA XI by four wickets in the other semi-final clash.
