Australia Rest Key Players for Pakistan T20I Series Before World Cup
Australia has made significant changes to its T20I squad for the upcoming series against Pakistan. The team has decided to leave out three senior players due to injury concerns. Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Tim David will not participate in the three-match series in Lahore.
Injury Management Ahead of T20 World Cup
The Australian medical team is taking a careful approach with these players. Josh Hazlewood is recovering from hamstring and Achilles issues. Tim David is also dealing with a hamstring problem. Both players are expected to be ready for the T20 World Cup opener against Ireland on February 11.
Pat Cummins requires more time to recover from back stress fractures. The team plans to have him available for the crucial later stages of the tournament in Sri Lanka. All three players will join the World Cup squad directly in Sri Lanka.
New Faces in the Squad
Australia has named a 17-player squad for the Pakistan series. The selection includes several new players who impressed during the Big Bash League. Fast bowler Mahli Beardman from Perth Scorchers and versatile talent Jack Edwards from Sydney Sixers have received their first call-ups.
Both Beardman and Edwards gained valuable experience earlier this summer. They were part of the Australian white-ball setup during India's tour. Although they have not made their international debuts yet, this series provides an excellent opportunity.

Ten of the seventeen players traveling to Pakistan are part of the World Cup squad. Mitch Marsh will captain the team during the Pakistan series. All three T20I matches will be played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
