New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have suffered yet another setback in their injury-plagued IPL 2026 campaign, as all-rounder Jamie Overton is set to return to the United Kingdom for further assessment of a right thigh injury. The England international has been a vital cog in the CSK lineup this season, contributing significantly with both bat and ball.
Overton's Impact This Season
In 10 matches, Overton has claimed 14 wickets and scored 136 runs, establishing himself as a crucial overseas option for the five-time champions. His ability to strike with the new ball and provide lower-order firepower has been instrumental in a campaign already marred by multiple injuries.
CSK's Statement
"Jamie Overton has a right thigh injury and will be returning to the UK for further assessment and management," CSK said in a statement on Wednesday. The update comes at a difficult time for the franchise, which remains in the playoff race but continues to lose key players at an alarming rate.

Overton is the latest addition to a lengthening list of unavailable players. Earlier on Wednesday, CSK announced the signing of Macneil Noronha as a replacement for injured all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh. The franchise had already lost Ayush Mhatre and Khaleel Ahmed midway through the season. Australian quick Nathan Ellis has not played a single game, while fellow Australian Spencer Johnson has been unavailable for large parts of the campaign.
Former captain MS Dhoni has missed the entire season so far due to a calf issue. Hopes of his return rose briefly on Wednesday after reports suggested he was booked to travel with the team to Lucknow, but those hopes faded as he ultimately did not make the trip.
