KAKINADA: In a tragic incident early Saturday morning, four individuals, including three women, lost their lives after a tipper truck rammed into them in the Kakinada rural mandal. Two others sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment.
Victims Identified as Employment Guarantee Workers
The deceased have been identified as Vasamsetty Satyavati (60), Palika Krishnaveni (35), Chittemma (45), and Chelluri Annavaram (45). All were workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). The injured are Mattaparthi Aruna Kumari and Palika Nagamani, who have been admitted to the Government General Hospital in Kakinada for medical care.
Accident Details
The accident occurred when the workers were crossing the road. Preliminary investigations suggest that the tipper driver's negligence may have caused the mishap. Authorities are probing the incident further.
Official Response
Andhra Pradesh ministers Nara Lokesh and Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy expressed deep shock over the accident. They have directed the concerned authorities to ensure quality treatment for the injured individuals and have promised all necessary support to the victims' families.
