Harnoor Pannu Targets IPL Breakthrough After Impressive Domestic Performances
Punjab opener Harnoor Pannu is setting his sights on the Indian Premier League (IPL) following a standout domestic season. The 23-year-old left-handed batsman, who was selected by Punjab Kings in the previous season but remained on the bench, is now determined to secure a spot in the playing eleven and showcase his skills on the grand stage.
Preparation and Ambition for IPL Success
Harnoor Pannu has been intensifying his training regimen in anticipation of the upcoming IPL. "The preparation has been really good, quite specific too," he stated. "I had a couple of productive range-hitting sessions that significantly enhanced my game. Playing and performing in the IPL is a major goal on my bucket list." His focus is clear: to translate domestic success into IPL opportunities.
Learning from Bench Experience and Domestic Achievements
Reflecting on his time with Punjab Kings last season, Pannu highlighted the value of being part of the squad. "It was really helpful traveling with the team and sharing the dressing room with legends," he explained. "The on-field exposure, even from the sidelines, contributed to my improvement during the domestic season." His recent performances underscore his readiness:
- Made his List A debut in December, scoring an unbeaten 115 for Punjab against Chhattisgarh.
- Posted scores of 64 and 42 in T20 matches against Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, respectively.
- In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he notched 94 runs against Goa while batting at number three.
Confidence and Focus Ahead of IPL Campaign
When questioned about his chances of making the playing eleven this IPL, Pannu responded with optimism and humor. "I'm going to let you figure that one out in the tournament," he laughed. "Playing among seniors is always a learning experience. I am confident of performing at my best whenever I get an opportunity. My current focus is excelling in practice games at the camp, but I believe I'm prepared to deliver for the team, especially in challenging situations."
Punjab Kings' IPL Schedule and Venues
Punjab Kings will kick off their IPL campaign with key matches across multiple venues:
- Four home games at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh PCA International Stadium in Mullanpur, starting with the opener against Gujarat Titans on March 31, followed by a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 11.
