HCA Spokesperson Blames 'Certain Elements' for TG20 Disruption

HCA Spokesperson Accuses Elements of Sabotaging TG20 League

Former Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) Secretary and spokesperson T Shesh Narayan has alleged that certain individuals are attempting to disrupt the ongoing HCA TG20 League by raising objections about permissions. He stated that there are elements within the state engaging in activities detrimental to the interests of the HCA.

Background: TCA's Legal Notices to Celebrities and Cricketers

Narayan's comments follow the Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) issuing legal notices earlier this month to actors Vijay Deverakonda and Venkatesh Daggubati, and cricketers Mohammed Siraj, Ambati Rayudu, and Tilak Varma. The TCA alleged that the TG20 League is being conducted without mandatory approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). TCA General Secretary Gurava Reddy stated that the association objected to celebrities endorsing what it described as an illegal and unapproved league.

HCA's Constitutional Standing and Supreme Court Mandate

Shesh Narayan emphasized that the HCA, as a founding member of the BCCI, operates under a constitution approved by the Supreme Court on August 9, 2018. He noted that any amendments to the constitution require the court's permission. "We do not have any control on the constitution, any amendment to that either BCCI or HCA can only go with the leave of the Supreme Court," he told ANI.

Allegations of Misuse and Calls for Grievance Redressal

Narayan accused certain people of taking undue advantage and disrupting the TG20 by questioning its permissions. He suggested that if anyone has a grievance against the BCCI, they should take it up directly with the board. "Because of the constitutional provisions which give them freedom of speech, they have been making all kinds of statements and allegations, which is not a part of our agenda," he said, adding that the HCA's focus remains on conducting the tournament.

Financial Losses and Legal Action

Narayan warned that the issue could spread to other states if not addressed early, comparing it to cancer. He revealed that the HCA has registered a police complaint in Uppal and is exploring judicial options. The HCA claims to have suffered financial losses of Rs 10 to 15 crore due to the legal notices. "Some franchises would not like to get entangled into any legal litigations, and some sponsors have also backed out," he said.

TG20 League's Success Amid Controversy

Despite the challenges, Narayan asserted that the TG20 League is highly successful, calling it the best in the country. He cited the special flavor for cricket in Hyderabad and the love for the game, adding that the city has produced many cricketers. "End of the day, TG20 is one of the most successful and undoubtedly this is the best in the entire country," he concluded.
