The 78-year-old ex-serviceman, who bravely served during the 1965 and 1971 India-Pakistan wars, succumbed to a prolonged age-related illness.

As the family of the late veteran made preparations for his final journey and burial rites, a contingent of IAF personnel arrived at his residence in the Tandalja area. There, they performed a formal and poignant ceremonial guard of honour, a military tradition reserved for those who have served the nation with distinction. The ceremony drew a large gathering of neighbours and local residents, who assembled to pay their last respects to the respected community member and war hero.
A Life of Service and Sacrifice
Zahiruddin Saiyed's life was marked by unwavering dedication to the nation. After his commendable service in the Air Force during two critical wars, he continued his career in public service. Following his retirement from the IAF, he joined Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) as a sub-divisional engineer.
