Mysuru city police conducted separate raids on illegal betting activities during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), resulting in the arrest of five individuals. The authorities seized a luxury car, mobile phones, cash, and a laptop from the accused.
Devaraja Police Raid
In the first operation, Devaraja police arrested three individuals involved in IPL cricket betting. The police seized one car, cash amounting to Rs 15,000, and three mobile phones. Acting on suspicion, officers from Devaraja police station were patrolling in their jurisdiction when they spotted the suspects at the parking lot behind the Town Hall. The accused were found to be illegally earning money by placing bets on the IPL match between RCB and Lucknow Super Giants. They used both online and offline methods to collect money from the public.
Hebbal Police Raid
In a separate incident, Hebbal police arrested two individuals and seized one laptop and three mobile phones. Acting on a tip-off, officers raided a room on the third floor of the MSR Hotel on Thursday. The police apprehended the two suspects who were illegally earning money by placing online bets on the same IPL match using mobile phones and a laptop. The arrests were confirmed in a release from the office of the police commissioner.
