A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) trainer aircraft crashed on Monday, resulting in the deaths of both pilots. The incident marks the second PAF crash in just four days.
The accident occurred in the Punjab province, according to a statement from the PAF. Air Headquarters has constituted a board of inquiry to determine the cause of the crash.
The PAF statement confirmed that both pilots lost their lives in the crash. It did not specify the exact location or the type of aircraft involved. However, sources indicated that a trainer jet went down during a routine training mission.
This latest incident follows a previous crash on June 11, when a PAF fighter jet crashed near Mian Channu, also in Punjab. In that incident, the pilot ejected safely and sustained minor injuries.
The recent spate of crashes has raised concerns about the safety and maintenance of the PAF fleet. Aviation experts have called for a thorough investigation into both accidents to prevent future occurrences.
The PAF has assured that the board of inquiry will conduct a comprehensive investigation and submit its findings promptly. The families of the deceased pilots have been informed, and the PAF has expressed its condolences.
Pakistan has experienced several military aircraft crashes in recent years, often attributed to technical faults or human error. The PAF regularly reviews its training protocols and aircraft maintenance procedures to enhance safety.
