The 23-year-old southpaw reached the BKC ground around 8 a.m. on Sunday morning, demonstrating his commitment to preparation. According to close observers, Jaiswal immediately proceeded to batting practice where he concentrated on specific technical aspects of his game. His session primarily involved taking numerous throwdowns with particular emphasis on leaving balls outside the off stump and playing with a straight bat.
After completing his initial batting stint, the young opener moved to nets on the opposite side of the ground where he took a brief break from his rigorous practice routine. This dedicated approach comes at a crucial time as India prepares to face the formidable South African bowling attack.
Building on Impressive Recent Form
Jaiswal enters the South Africa Test series with exceptional form and confidence following his remarkable performances in recent matches. In Mumbai's previous Ranji Trophy fixture against Rajasthan at Jaipur, the left-hander scored an impressive 156 in the second innings, playing a pivotal role in helping his team secure a draw.
His international form has been equally impressive, having smashed 175 against West Indies at New Delhi just last month. Since Rohit Sharma's Test retirement in May, Jaiswal has formed a highly productive opening partnership with KL Rahul, consistently providing India with solid starts by effectively negotiating the new ball and creating a strong foundation for the middle order.
