The Jamshedpur Steelers secured their place in the semifinals of the Jharkhand T20 Cricket League 2026 with a 31-run victory over the Dhanbad Diamonds under the VJD Method at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. This win makes the Steelers the third team to advance to the knockout stage of the tournament.
Steelers Post Formidable Total
Batting first, the Jamshedpur Steelers amassed a commanding 220/5 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was headlined by MD Kounain Quraishi, who remained unbeaten on 68 off just 31 balls, earning the Player of the Match award. He received valuable support from Niteen Kumar Pandey, who scored a brisk 34 off 21 deliveries, and Kumar Deobrat, who contributed a steady 31 off 27 balls, according to a release.
Dhanbad's Bowling Efforts
For the Dhanbad Diamonds, Shamshad Ahmad was the standout bowler, finishing with figures of 2/48 in his four overs. Atul Singh Surwar (1/26) and Sushant Mishra (1/37) each picked up a wicket, but the Steelers' batting depth proved too strong.
Rain Interrupts and Target Revised
A persistent rain spell during the break forced a target revision under the VJD Method, setting the Dhanbad Diamonds a revised target of 185 runs in 16 overs. The Diamonds faltered under the increased pressure, managing only 153/8 in their 16 overs. Atul Singh Surwar fought valiantly with a blistering 43 off 21 balls, and Bisesh Dutta added 20 off 16, but their efforts were insufficient.
Steelers' Bowling Dominance
The Steelers' bowling unit delivered a disciplined performance, spearheaded by Aman Kumar Singh (2/13), Pratik Ranjan (2/17), and Anurag Singh Sengar (2/20), each claiming two wickets. Their collective effort ensured a comprehensive victory for Jamshedpur.
