KSCA Dharwad Zone Inaugurates Comprehensive Cricket Summer Camp in Hubballi
The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Dharwad zone has officially launched a one-month cricket summer camp at the KSCA Hubballi ground in Hubballi. This initiative marks a significant step forward in nurturing young talent across multiple age categories, with a notable inclusion of female players for the first time.
Camp Structure and Participant Selection
The camp is designed to cater to boys in the Under 14, Under 16, and Under 19 categories, as well as girls in the Under 15 and Under 19 categories. A rigorous selection process saw 125 players chosen from a pool of 1,076 participants who underwent trials. These trials were conducted across several districts under the Dharwad zone, including Hubballi, Dharwad, Gadag, Belagavi, and Karwar.
Convenor Veeranna Savadi, addressing reporters in Hubballi on Tuesday, detailed the selection methodology. "We conducted extensive trials and organized four matches in each age group to assess players against one another," Savadi explained. "The final selection was based on a thorough evaluation of technical skills, ensuring that only the most promising talents were chosen for this intensive training program."
Training and Support for Selected Players
The camp is structured to provide comprehensive training to 75 boys and 50 girls, totaling 125 participants. Savadi highlighted the special emphasis on inclusivity, noting that rural players have been prominently selected, which adds a unique dimension to the camp's diversity and outreach.
All selected players will benefit from a range of free amenities and professional support, including:
- Free accommodation and meals throughout the camp duration.
- Comprehensive physical examinations to monitor health and fitness.
- Advanced video analysis sessions to refine techniques and strategies.
- Expert coaching from BCCI-level trainers, ensuring high-quality instruction.
Savadi emphasized that this is the first time such an extensive training camp has been organized in the region, underscoring its pioneering nature in promoting cricket development at the grassroots level.

The inauguration of the camp was attended by key officials, including KSCA Dharwad zone chairman Altaf Kittur and zonal committee member Vasant Murdeshwar, among others. Their presence underscores the association's commitment to fostering cricket talent and expanding opportunities for young athletes in Karnataka.
