Robert Lewandowski confirmed on Saturday that he will depart FC Barcelona upon the expiration of his contract this summer. The 37-year-old Poland international striker announced his decision via an Instagram post, concluding a four-season tenure with the Catalan club.
"After four years full of challenges and hard work, it's time to move on," Lewandowski stated. "I leave with the feeling that the mission is complete. Four seasons, three championships."
Lewandowski's Impact at Barcelona
Lewandowski joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in 2022 for a fee of €45 million ($53 million). During his time at the club, he made 191 appearances across all competitions and scored 119 goals. His contributions were instrumental in Barcelona's resurgence in Spanish football.
Under his influence, Barcelona secured three La Liga titles, including the 2025-26 season, three Spanish Supercopa trophies, and one Copa del Rey title in 2025. Lewandowski played a key role in stabilizing the team during a period of financial difficulty and helped restore the club's competitive edge in the Champions League.
Final Match at Camp Nou
Lewandowski is set to play his last match at Camp Nou on Sunday against Real Betis. This season, he shared the No. 9 role with Ferran Torres and frequently rotated in and out of the starting lineup. Despite this, he managed to score 18 goals as Barcelona won both La Liga and the Spanish Supercopa.
"Barca is back where it belongs," Lewandowski continued. "I will never forget the love I received from the fans from my very first days. Catalonia is my place on earth."
His departure marks the end of an era for Barcelona, as they look to build on the foundation he helped establish. The club will now focus on securing a replacement for the prolific striker ahead of the next season.
