Mumbai Indians (MI) have officially announced replacements for Quinton de Kock and Raj Angad Bawa ahead of their final clash of the IPL season. The franchise revealed the changes on Thursday, just days before their last match.
New Additions to the Squad
MI have roped in wicketkeeper-batter Liam Livingstone as a replacement for the South African star Quinton de Kock, who has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury. De Kock had been a key player for MI this season, scoring 250 runs in 10 matches. Meanwhile, all-rounder Shardul Thakur has been named as the replacement for Raj Angad Bawa, who is recovering from a shoulder injury.
Impact on Team Balance
The inclusion of Livingstone adds depth to the batting lineup and provides an additional spin-bowling option. Thakur, known for his pace and lower-order hitting, bolsters the bowling attack. MI head coach Mark Boucher expressed confidence in the new recruits, stating that they are ready to step up in the crucial encounter.
MI currently sit at the bottom of the points table with only four wins from 13 matches. Their final league game is against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 27 at the Wankhede Stadium. A win would help them avoid the wooden spoon.
- Livingstone has previously played for Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings in the IPL.
- Thakur has been a consistent performer for Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals.
- Both players are expected to join the MI camp immediately.
Fans will be eager to see how the new additions perform in the last game of the season.
