Bokaro: In a decisive move against power theft, the Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against six individuals at the Sector-6 police station, the company announced on Saturday.
Details of the Incident
According to a BSL spokesperson, some persons were found engaging in unauthorized electrical hooking. When home guards attempted to intervene and confiscate the wires, a heated altercation ensued. The situation escalated, leading to an assault on a Home Guard jawan.
Police Response
Sector-6 police station in-charge Sangeeta Kumari confirmed that six individuals have been named in the complaint for allegedly assaulting a Home Guard jawan. “Police have begun a thorough probe into the matter,” she added.
Financial Impact
The BSL suffers annual losses of nearly Rs 50 crore due to electricity theft within the township. This incident highlights the ongoing challenge of power pilferage and the need for stringent measures to curb such illegal activities.
