Mumbai continued their strong performance against Uttar Pradesh on the third day of the Vijay Merchant Trophy Under-16 match. Playing at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Anand, Mumbai built a massive overall lead of 681 runs.

Mumbai Chooses to Bat Again After Big First Innings Lead

Mumbai held a commanding first-innings lead of 498 runs. Instead of enforcing the follow-on, they decided to bat again. This strategic move paid off as they reached 183 for 4 in their second innings by stumps on Tuesday.

UP Struggles in Their First Innings

Uttar Pradesh resumed their first innings at an overnight score of 10 for 1. They faced early trouble and were bundled out for just 135 runs. Medium pacer Advait Bhat emerged as the chief destroyer for Mumbai. He returned impressive figures of 5 for 36.

Vedant Gore and Siddhant Bot provided excellent support. They chipped in with two wickets each. Six UP batsmen failed to reach double figures during their innings.

Arush Gupta Fights a Lone Battle for UP

Arush Gupta top-scored for Uttar Pradesh with a fighting 54 runs. He faced 74 balls and struck 11 boundaries during his stay at the crease. Gupta shared a 43-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Anay Awasthi.

This partnership turned out to be the highest stand of the UP innings. Anay Awasthi scored 13 runs, while Hitesh Kumar made 14 and Aarav Tyagi contributed 11. They were the other UP batsmen to reach double digits.

Aayush Shete Leads Mumbai's Second Innings Charge

In Mumbai's second innings, opener and captain Aayush Shete played a crucial knock. He scored 94 runs off 127 balls with 12 boundaries and a six. Shete added 50 runs in 56 balls for the first wicket with Rishabh, who made 24.

Shete later put on 60 runs in 119 balls for the second wicket with Devashish Ghodke, who scored 14. For Uttar Pradesh, spinner Anay Awasthi was the most successful bowler. He claimed 3 wickets for 34 runs, while Krishna Yadav took one wicket.

Mumbai in Strong Position at Stumps
