Spanish football giant Real Madrid has signed Netherlands star Denzel Dumfries on a four-year deal, keeping him at the club until June 2030, the club announced on Sunday.
Transfer Details
A statement from Real Madrid confirmed that an agreement had been reached with Inter Milan for the transfer of the Dutch full-back. "Real Madrid CF and Inter Milan have reached an agreement for the transfer of Denzel Dumfries, who will be linked to our club for the next four seasons, until June 30, 2030," the club said.
Dumfries' Achievements at Inter Milan
During his five-year stint with Inter Milan from 2021 to 2026, Dumfries amassed an impressive collection of trophies, including two Serie A titles, a UEFA Champions League title in the 2024-25 season, and three Coppa Italia titles. In total, he made 207 appearances for the Italian club, scoring 27 goals and providing 28 assists, contributing to eight trophies.
International Career and World Cup 2026
Dumfries was also part of the Netherlands squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026, where he delivered two assists. However, the Dutch team faced a shock exit in the round of 32, losing 2-3 to Morocco on penalties.
Earlier Club Career
Before moving to Inter Milan, Dumfries played in the Dutch football circuit, representing Sparta Rotterdam (2014-2017), Heerenveen (2017-2018), and PSV Eindhoven. His consistent performances in the Eredivisie earned him a move to Serie A, where he further developed into one of Europe's top full-backs.
This signing marks Real Madrid's continued investment in strengthening their squad with top international talent, as they look to compete for major honors in the coming seasons.
