Scottie Scheffler may be one of the biggest names in golf, but he has made it clear that his family comes before trophies and titles. The world No. 1 golfer and his wife, Meredith Scudder, are parents to two sons: Bennett and Remy. Their first child arrived in May 2024, while their second son was born in March 2026. Even with a packed golf schedule, Scheffler has often spoken about how much being a father means to him and how his family remains his top priority.
Scottie Scheffler and Meredith Scudder welcomed son Bennett in 2024
Scottie and Meredith became parents for the first time when Bennett Scheffler was born on May 8, 2024. Sharing the news on Instagram, Scottie wrote, “Welcome to the world little one. Your mom & dad love you so much.” Just days later, the golfer returned to competition at Valhalla Golf Club. Speaking to Golf Channel, he admitted that leaving his newborn son at home was challenging. At the same time, he said fatherhood had already exceeded every expectation he had.
Bennett quickly became a familiar face around his father’s golf journey. In September 2024, he was there when Scottie won the FedEx Cup. Months later, during the 2025 Masters Par 3 Contest, Meredith and Bennett joined the family tradition of serving as caddies.
Scottie Scheffler hopes son Bennett learns life lessons from golf
Although Bennett was still very young, Scottie shared in July 2025 that he hoped one day his son would enjoy the game that shaped his own life. “You know, the game of golf taught me a tremendous amount. You learn a lot of good life lessons by playing golf. So I hope he can play it one day and I hope he enjoys it as much as I do,” Scheffler told reporters, according to Fox Sports.
Later that month, Bennett drew attention during The Open Championship celebrations. While Scottie held the Claret Jug after his victory, his toddler son happily walked toward him, taking a few tumbles along the way.

The Scheffler family grew again on March 27, 2026, when their second son, Remy Scheffler, was born. Scottie withdrew from the Texas Children’s Houston Open so he could be present for the birth.
Remy did not wait long before making his first appearance at a golf course. According to Associated Press golf writer Doug Ferguson, the newborn visited Augusta National Golf Club with Meredith just nine days before the 2026 Masters Tournament. He was only nine days old at the time. When asked by the Associated Press how they chose the name Remy, Scheffler gave a simple answer. “We just liked it,” he said, adding that he and Meredith “didn’t have very many good boy names.”
Family has remained at the center of Scheffler’s life throughout his career. Speaking to reporters in July 2025, according to Sports Illustrated, he said, “I talk about family being my priority because it really is.” He added, “Because I’d much rather be a great father than I would be a great golfer.”
