Women's Final: Sector 26 Team Edges Chandigarh Hockey Academy 4-3
The women's team of Sri Guru Gobind Singh (SGGS) Hockey Club, Sector 26, clinched the title in the Chandigarh State Championships by defeating Chandigarh Hockey Academy, Sector 18, 4-3 at the Sector 42 Sports Complex. Ratanajeet Chauhan drew first blood for Sector 18 in the opening minute, but Palak equalized for Sector 26 in the 6th minute. Palak then converted a penalty corner in the 20th minute to give her side a 2-1 lead. Ratanajeet scored her second goal in the 21st minute to level the score. In the third quarter, Palak scored again via a penalty corner, and Dhapa Devi extended the lead to 4-2 with a field goal in the 49th minute. Simran pulled one back for Sector 18 through a penalty corner in the 58th minute, but Sector 26 held on for victory.
Men's Final: Wanderers Club Beats ITBP 5-2
In the men's final, Wanderers Club defeated ITBP 5-2, with two-time Olympian Gurjant Singh playing a key role. Harpanthpreet Singh scored the opener for Wanderers in the 20th minute via a penalty corner. ITBP skipper Rohit equalized in the 31st minute. Wanderers then scored three consecutive goals: skipper Rohit converted a penalty corner in the 36th minute, Dilraj Singh netted in the 47th minute, and another goal followed in the 48th minute. ITBP scored their second goal through a left-striker in the dying minutes.
Third Place Match: AG Haryana Crushes SGGS Club 7-1
AG Haryana claimed third place with a 7-1 win over SGGS Club. Sunil Shah starred with a hat-trick, scoring in the 10th, 26th, and 29th minutes. Yadwinder Singh (13th and 20th), Gobind Patel (15th), and Sarvjeet Singh (52nd minute) also scored. Rishav scored the only goal for SGGS Club in the 32nd minute.
Awards and Closing Ceremony
Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh awarded the winners and runners-up and congratulated Hockey Chandigarh president Karan Gilhotra for conducting the meet. The championships showcased strong performances across both men's and women's divisions, highlighting the depth of hockey talent in the region.
