Shanaya of Saupin’s School, Panchkula, claimed the girls’ U-11 gold medal at the UT 1st Chandigarh State Ranking Table Tennis Championship, defeating Myra of Delhi Public School, Sector 40, with a straight-sets victory of 11-5, 11-4, 11-7. The championship took place at the Sector 23 table tennis hall in Chandigarh.
Girls’ U-11 Dominance
In the semifinals, Myra had defeated Aavya 11-3, 11-1, 11-0, while Shanaya blanked Irene 11-4, 11-8, 11-9. Earlier in the quarterfinals, Myra overcame Khushneet 11-6, 11-3, 11-3; Aavya outplayed Anaya 11-5, 11-9, 11-8; Shanaya posted a 11-2, 11-4, 11-8 win over Mishita; and Irene defeated Shambhavi 11-3, 11-6, 14-12.
Boys’ U-11 Title
Aadvik Thakur of Mount Carmel School, Sector 47, secured the boys’ U-11 gold by defeating Yatharth Rajoo of Manav Mangal Smart School, Zirakpur, with a score of 15-13, 6-11, 11-4, 11-9. In the semifinals, Rajoo defeated Tripat 11-7, 11-4, 11-2, and Thakur ousted Hargun Singh 11-4, 13-11, 6-11, 11-5. Quarterfinal results included Tripat beating Nivaan Saini 11-3, 11-2, 11-4; Rajoo defeating Evan Gupta 11-5, 11-5, 11-1; Hargun Singh coming back to win 9-11, 11-2, 12-10, 11-6 against Kevyan Singh; and Thakur beating Ruhaan Saini 11-7, 11-8, 11-2.
Boys’ U-13 Final
Divit Bansal of Gurukul Global, Manimajra, won the boys’ U-13 final against Rayaan of Manav Mangal Smart School, Phase 10, Mohali, with an easy 11-4, 11-5, 12-10 victory. In the semifinals, Bansal had defeated Kevyan Bansal 11-5, 11-4, 11-5, while Rayaan beat Ojas Gollen 11-7, 11-7, 12-10. Quarterfinal matches saw Bansal come from a game down to beat Akshat 8-11, 11-3, 11-8, 20-18, and also edge past Madhavan 7-11, 10-12, 11-6, 12-10, 11-5. Rayaan defeated Aadvik Thakur 11-8, 11-6, 11-9, and Gollen stunned Krishan 11-2, 11-3, 11-5.
Girls’ U-13 Victory
Priyanshi of Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, won the girls’ U-13 final against Tisha of Sacred Heart, Sector 26, with scores of 11-9, 11-8, 11-7. In the semifinals, Priyanshi overcame a tough challenge from Avni Gupta 3-11, 11-6, 11-5, 14-12, while Tisha defeated Mishita 11-8, 9-11, 11-3, 11-4. Quarterfinal results included Avni Gupta beating Irene 11-6, 11-5, 11-4; Priyanshi outplaying Mihika Mahajan 12-10, 11-6, 11-6; Tisha ousting Idhika Bansal 15-13, 11-9, 10-12, 9-11, 11-6; and Mishita defeating Harmeet Kaur 11-7, 11-5, 5-11, 11-6.
