Wedding Dreams Deferred by Dual Health Crises

The much-anticipated wedding of Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana has been unexpectedly postponed following back-to-back health emergencies that struck both her father and fiancé within days of the ceremony.

The crisis began on Sunday when Smriti's father, Shrinivas Mandhana, was suddenly rushed to Sarvhit Hospital after experiencing heart-attack-like symptoms. The family had been in the final stages of preparing for the wedding scheduled for November 23 in Sangli.

Emotional Turmoil Takes Physical Toll

In a dramatic turn of events, the groom-to-be, Palash Muchhal, also required emergency medical attention just one day later. According to his mother Amita Muchhal, Palash broke down under the emotional stress surrounding his future father-in-law's health condition.

"Palash was admitted to a hospital in Sangli after his health deteriorated significantly," Amita revealed to Hindustan Times. "He was crying continuously when his condition suddenly worsened. The doctors kept him in the hospital for four hours with an IV drip and conducted ECG along with other tests."

She emphasized the special bond between Palash and Shrinivas Mandhana, noting: "Palash has much more attachment to uncle than even Smriti does - these two are closer than she is with him."

A Difficult Decision Made with Love

According to family accounts, it was actually Palash who first insisted that the wedding ceremonies must not proceed until Shrinivas Mandhana recovered completely. "Even before Smriti could decide, Palash took the decision that they wouldn't take the pheras until uncle recovers properly," Amita stated.

The emotional weight of the situation became overwhelming for Palash, particularly since the haldi ceremony had already been completed. The family had requested he stay indoors, but the psychological pressure ultimately affected his physical wellbeing.

Doctors treating Shrinivas Mandhana told ANI that his symptoms were likely triggered by "physical or mental stress" from the hectic wedding preparations. Ironically, he had been in high spirits just the day before his hospitalization. "He danced enthusiastically and was posting Stories on Instagram," Amita recalled.

Wedding Postponed at the Final Hour

The families found themselves with no choice but to postpone the wedding when only the pheras remained to be completed. Both Smriti and Palash are understandably distressed by the turn of events.

"Palash had dreamed of bringing his bride home. I had even planned a special welcome ceremony for them," Amita shared, adding that she had to cancel all functions planned for November 24.

Despite the emotional setback, the family remains optimistic about eventual nuptials. "Everything will be fine... the wedding will happen very soon," Amita affirmed, expressing hope for better days ahead.

Palash has since returned to Mumbai and is currently "resting and recovering" from the traumatic experience, while the medical teams continue to monitor both patients closely.
