Aakash Parkar was the highest earner, commanding a staggering INR 12.5 crore from the Mumbai North franchise. Prasad Pawar followed closely with a bid of INR 10.2 crore by the Mumbai South team. Musheer Khan was picked up for INR 9.8 crore by Mumbai Central, while Arjun Tendulkar, son of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, attracted a bid of INR 8.5 crore from the Mumbai East franchise. Other notable purchases included Shubham Ranjane (INR 7.2 crore) and Siddhesh Lad (INR 6.8 crore).
Franchise Strategies and Surprises
Teams adopted aggressive strategies, with several franchises breaking their budgets to secure key players. The Mumbai North franchise, led by owner Rajesh Patel, focused on building a strong batting lineup. "We identified Aakash as our target early on and were prepared to go all out," Patel said. Meanwhile, the Mumbai East team surprised many by bidding heavily for Arjun Tendulkar, who has shown promise as an all-rounder. "Arjun brings both skill and star power," said team mentor Vinayak Mane.
The auction also saw several young talents being snapped up at lower prices, indicating a focus on nurturing future stars. Among them, spinner Yash Kshirsagar was bought for INR 2.1 crore by Mumbai West, and batsman Rohan Patil went to Mumbai South for INR 1.8 crore.
Overall Auction Dynamics
A total of 120 players were sold during the auction, with franchises collectively spending over INR 150 crore. The highest number of bids were for fast bowlers and all-rounders, reflecting the T20 format's demand for versatile players. The league, which has grown in stature over the years, attracted significant corporate interest, with sponsorships and broadcasting rights seeing a substantial increase.
The T20 Mumbai League 2026 is scheduled to begin in March 2026, with matches to be held at the Wankhede Stadium and other venues across the city. The tournament is expected to feature eight teams competing in a round-robin format followed by playoffs.
