Dharwad: Three boys drowned and died at Karemmana lake in Shinganahalli village in Dharwad taluk on Saturday afternoon. The deceased have been identified as Mehboob Subhani, 15, Anwar Ibrahim Itnal, 13, and Subhani Isaq Bhagojikoppa, 12, all residents of Shinganahalli.
Incident Details
According to villagers, the trio entered the waterbody to beat the heat. They ventured into the middle portion of the lake but failed to assess the depth of the water. None of them knew how to swim, which led to the tragic incident.
Police Response
Senior police officials including SP Gunjan Arya, DSP Vinod Muktedar, CPI Lohar, and others visited the spot. With the help of villagers, the bodies were retrieved from the lake and sent to the mortuary of the district hospital for postmortem.
The Garag police have registered a case and are investigating the matter further.
