Bengaluru city police have launched a manhunt for three youngsters who allegedly stabbed and injured a 17-year-old II PU student during a road-rage incident in RR Nagar, west Bengaluru. The victim, who worked part-time as a bike-taxi captain, is currently recovering in a hospital.
Details of the Incident
According to the police complaint filed by the victim's friend, the altercation occurred on Global Village Road, Pattanagere Main Road, on the night of May 27. The friend stated that he and his companions regularly visited a fruit juice shop in the area. Around 8 pm, as they were riding near the shop, a youngster on a motorbike carrying a child honked repeatedly, demanding that the victim give way. The student, riding a gearless scooter, complied, but the motorist reportedly expressed anger over the delay.
An argument ensued, and the motorist departed only to return shortly with another youth. The duo allegedly took the ignition key from the victim, abused him, and forced him to ride pillion to a nearby bar. The confrontation continued, and the youths attempted to beat the student with a wooden log. The victim's uncle arrived and chased the attackers away.
However, the complainant added that the group continued riding but were intercepted further down the road by the same youths along with a third accomplice. They dragged the victim to the roadside and stabbed him multiple times on the chest, neck, hands, and back before fleeing the scene.
Police Investigation
Police officials confirmed that they have registered a case and are actively searching for the accused. No arrests have been made so far.
Separate Incident: Stray Dog Beaten to Death
In an unrelated incident, Bengaluru police have registered a criminal case against five unidentified individuals, including a woman, for allegedly beating a stray dog to death near Radiant Lake View Apartment in Medahalli, Avalahalli, on May 24.
The complaint was filed by Snehalatha, an apartment occupant who regularly feeds strays. She reported that around 9:30 pm, she heard a dog barking in pain and human voices. Upon investigation, she saw a woman shouting that the dog was mad and biting her, while four men beat the animal with sticks and stones. The group then discarded the dog's body in a vacant site and left.
Snehalatha and other residents shifted the dog's body to a veterinary hospital in Domlur. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the apartment and nearby buildings to identify the accused.
