After the break, Japan continued their relentless pressure. Ueda turned provider in the 58th minute, setting up Junya Ito with a lofted pass for the third goal. The striker then completed his brace in the 73rd minute, nodding in from a deep cross to seal the emphatic win.

The victory marked a milestone for Japanese football, as the team became the first Asian nation to net four times in a World Cup fixture. According to the Japan Football Association, the result also extended their unbeaten run against African opponents to five matches.
