Hockey India has announced the senior women's national coaching camp, scheduled to commence in Bengaluru in January 2025. The camp will see 34 players and a support staff come together to prepare for the upcoming international season.
Camp Details
The camp will be held at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) campus in Bengaluru. It is set to begin on January 2, 2025, and will run until further notice. The selection committee, headed by former captain and Hockey India's technical committee member, has named a 34-member core group for the camp.
Players Called Up
The list includes experienced players like Savita Punia, who will lead the goalkeeping department. Other notable names include defenders Deep Grace Ekka and Nikki Pradhan, midfielders Sushila Chanu and Neha Goyal, and forwards Lalremsiami and Navneet Kaur. Several young talents have also been given opportunities, including goalkeeper Bichu Devi and defender Ishika Chaudhary.
Support Staff
The coaching staff will be led by chief coach Janneke Schopman. The support staff includes analytical coaches, physiotherapists, and a strength and conditioning coach. Hockey India has emphasized the importance of this camp in building a strong foundation for the team's future campaigns.
Objectives
The primary objective of the camp is to prepare the team for the FIH Hockey Pro League matches scheduled for early 2025. Additionally, the camp will focus on improving the team's fitness, tactical understanding, and overall performance.
