The selection trials for the Punjab Junior Men's Hockey Team will take place on July 13 at the KP Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Mithapur, starting at 8 am. The team will represent the state in the 16th Hockey India Junior Men's National Hockey Championship, scheduled to be held in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, from July 28 to August 8.
Venue Change Due to Stadium Upgradation
Previously conducted at the Surjit Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar, the trials have been relocated to the Mithapur venue. The Surjit Stadium is currently undergoing upgrades in preparation for the upcoming Asian Hockey Championship, which Punjab will host for the first time.
Eligibility and Required Documents
Hockey Punjab President Nitin Kohli and General Secretary Amrik Singh Powar announced that only players born on or after January 1, 2007, are eligible to participate. Participants must bring their original birth certificate and original Aadhaar card for verification. "Players who fail to produce these documents will not be permitted to participate in the selection trials," they stated.
National Championship Details
The selected team will compete in the national championship, bringing together the country's top junior hockey talent. The championship is organized by Hockey India and will be held in Coimbatore.
