Kanpur: Three footballers from Kanpur have been selected to represent the Uttar Pradesh state under-20 team in the upcoming national championship, scheduled to be held in Chhattisgarh starting Friday. The UP team will play its opening match against Madhya Pradesh on May 3, followed by a match against Arunachal Pradesh.
Kanpur Football Association secretary Ajeet Singh confirmed that Vihan Khanna, Rohit Singh, and Nikhil Singh from Kanpur will be part of the UP squad for the national championship.
The full UP under-20 team includes: Mohd Shazid, Shivam Yadav, Mohd Shahviz, Abu Hanzala, Farhan Khan, Mohd Wazid Ali, Mohd Nadeem, Gaurav Chauhan, Abhishek Kumar, Jane Alam, Shivam Patel, Prashant Singh, Sushant Gupta, Mohd Kaif Khan, and Vishal Rawat. Shamshi Raza will serve as the coach, and MS Beg as the team manager.
Inter-School Cricket Tournament
In other sports news, Kanpur Sports & Culture Events will organize an inter-school cricket tournament starting May 4. A total of 13 schools have confirmed their participation. The inaugural match is scheduled to be held at the VSSD College ground, while the final will take place on May 9.
