In a tragic incident on Thursday, two young men lost their lives after their motorcycles collided head-on on a bypass service road near Akhri village under the Rohaniya Akhri police outpost in Varanasi.
Incident Details
Upon receiving information about the accident, police personnel promptly arrived at the scene. With the help of local residents, the injured were rushed to a nearby trauma center. However, both succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.
Victims Identified
The deceased have been identified as Alok Srivastava (27), a resident of Khurmawad in Rohtas district, Bihar, and Rahul alias Kaju Patel (25), a resident of Akhri. According to police reports, Alok was traveling from the Akhri bypass toward Dafi, while Rahul was returning home after admitting his wife, Kiran Devi, to a hospital for delivery.
The collision occurred on the service lane, and authorities believe that overspeeding was the primary cause. The impact was so severe that the front portions of both motorcycles were extensively damaged.
Post-Accident Actions
Following the incident, police sent the bodies for postmortem examination. An investigation into the accident is underway.
