A tragic incident occurred in Arag village of Miraj tehsil, Sangli district, on Friday afternoon, where a 26-year-old man and his 15-year-old nephew were electrocuted while operating a pump to spray pesticides on a brinjal crop.
Victims Identified
The deceased have been identified as Vishal Pandurang Male (uncle) and Atharva Ravindra Mali (nephew). According to Inspector Somnath Mali of the Miraj Rural police, both individuals came into contact with a live wire that was connected to the pump they were using.
Emergency Response
After the incident, the victims were immediately rushed to the hospital at Miraj Medical College. However, doctors declared them dead before any treatment could be administered. The police have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
This unfortunate event highlights the dangers associated with agricultural machinery and electrical equipment, particularly in rural areas where safety measures may be lacking.
