Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer Josh Hazlewood admitted he was unsure what to expect after his team conceded more than 500 runs in their previous match. However, RCB bounced back strongly to defeat Delhi Capitals (DC) in their own backyard in Delhi, showcasing their resilience in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Hazlewood on the Team's Turnaround
Speaking after the match, Hazlewood said, 'After giving away over 500 runs in the last game, I was not sure what was going to happen. But the boys showed great character to come back and win here in Delhi.' He credited the bowlers for executing their plans effectively and the batsmen for setting a competitive total.
Key Performances in the Match
RCB's victory was built on solid contributions from both bat and ball. Virat Kohli anchored the innings with a fluent half-century, while Glenn Maxwell provided the late fireworks. In response, DC's chase faltered as Hazlewood and Mohammed Siraj picked up crucial wickets at regular intervals.
Hazlewood finished with figures of 2 for 28 in his four overs, including the key scalp of DC captain Rishabh Pant. 'It was important to start well and keep the pressure on them. The wicket had something for the bowlers, and we used it well,' he added.
Impact on the Points Table
The win lifted RCB to third place in the IPL standings, strengthening their playoff hopes. With several matches remaining, Hazlewood emphasized the need to maintain consistency. 'We can't afford to be complacent. Every game is crucial from here on,' he said.
RCB will next face Kolkata Knight Riders in a home fixture, while DC will look to regroup against Chennai Super Kings.
